

RETTINGER. Louis E. Rettinger Jr., 70, best friend and wife to Donna (Trott) Rettinger passed away on Tuesday March 23, 2010 at Woodlake in Tolland. He was born in Pittsburg, PA on June 24, 1939 son of the late Louis E. & Elizabeth (Mogan) Rettinger. He lived his early childhood in Pittsburg before moving to Union, NJ then College Point, New York, NY and then graduating from East Hartford High School, Class of 1958. After high school he went to the University of Hartford and Ward School of Electronics. His career consisted of being a Quality Engineer, Inspection Foreman and Manager for Aerospace & Jet Engine manufacturing companies. He was married to Donna for 37 years and lived in East Hartford before they moved to South Windsor in February of 2003.
Louis was very passionate about cooking, sports, whale watching, aerospace, and astronomy, the Pittsburg Steelers, UConn Basketball and Football. He had lived in East Hartford since 1949 and was member of numerous organizations being in the Holy Family Retreat League, West Hartford, from 1956 until present, a Hartford Archdiocesan Euceristic Minister from 93-00’ a longtime communicant St. Rose Church acting as President of the Men’s Club from 82-96’ on the Parish Council from 82-95’ and Parish Retreat Chairman from 73- 86’ He also served as East Hartford Retreat Chapter VP from 90-95’ a member of the EH Jaycees from 61-72’ serving as President from 66-67’ and Board of Directors CT Jaycees from 64-68’ He was also a fund raiser for the American Cancer Society from 90-08’
Along with loving wife Donna, he is survived by a brother Dennis Rettinger and his wife Donna of Arkansas, sons Mark and Daniel both of FL, adored grandchildren Amanda & Nicholas, special cousin Sue Horne and all his relatives in Pittsburg, good friends Tony Matta and family of East Hartford, Marty Molloy of South Windsor, Joe Corlis of Cromwell, along with a host of brother and sister in laws, cousins, nieces, nephews, friends, colleges and his class of 58’
Relatives and friends are invited on Saturday March 27th at 8:30 a.m. to the Benjamin J. Callahan Funeral Home, 318 Burnside Ave., East Harford for a period of visitation prior to the Mass of Christian Burial to celebrated at 10:30 a.m. in St. Rose Church, 33 Church St., East Hartford. Inurnment will follow in Hillside Cemetery, East Hartford.
