Marjorie H. Thompson Age: 94 widower of Homer J Thompson and mother of Marguerite (Peggy) Thompson Casares, of Glastonbury passed away on August 21st in her home with family by her side. Marjorie was born in 1919 in Syracuse NY to Otto and Marguerite Hermes.
She enjoyed time with family, playing bridge, traveling the world, visiting the Cape, watching the Red Sox, and knitting alongside her beloved daughter Peggy. She was a woman ahead of her time, first by having a career in real estate and later by buying and selling stocks after only a few hours of research at the library. She was always someone you wanted to share your adventures with because of the enthusiasm she showed. She will be most remembered for her zest for life, love for her family, and taking her time at the dinner table.
She is survived and will be dearly missed by her son-in-law Henry J. Casares, three grandchildren; Peter Casares and his wife Allyson, Carrie Balda and her husband Christopher, and Christi Treibach and her husband Tim, and six great-grandchildren; Andrew and Olivia Casares, Cavan and Callie Balda, and Ashlyn and Whitney Treibach. She is also survived by her nephews Scott and Craig Hermes, and Rick Goodwin
Calling hours will be Sunday August 25th from 3-5pm at the Glastonbury Funeral Home, 450 New London Tpk., Glastonbury, with a memorial service at 4:30pm. In lieu of flowers a donation in her memory may also be made to South Congregational Church.
