

Born on December 24, 1942 in St. Peter, Speightstown Barbados, Marva was daughter to the late Clyde and Eleanor Francina(Reid) McCollin.
Marva was a school teacher in Barbados until she emigrated to Canada in 1962 where she studied secretarial course work. From Canada she made her way to the United States where she worked tirelessly as a former employee of Aetna Insurance company for 20 years. After which time she became a full-time employee of Augie and Rays in East Hartford, CT. She was well known by the many long-time customers of Augie and Rays where she worked for over 30 years up until September of this year. She took pride in her job and was very particular in how she did her duties. She was a proud employee of Augie’s.
Marva loved being around her family and friends where she made happy memories and stories for a lifetime. She dedicated herself to doing the most she could for others and was always there to lend a helping hand when she was able. She was a self-less woman and the compassion she showed others is unremarkable.
Marva will be missed by all those whose hearts she touched. She is survived by her two daughters Sandra Naomi Watson, Kyna Andrea Morgan, son-in-law David Mark Morgan SR and grandchildren Kyana Alyse Watson, David Morgan Jr. and Jalen Morgan. She is also survived by her five siblings: Marjorie Jeanette Brathwaite of Ontario, Canada, David McCollin of St. Peter, Barbados, Judy Clement of Boston, Massachusetts, William McCollin of Freeport, LI, New York and Maureen McCollin of Freeport, LI,New York as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her sister Patricia Juanita (McCollin) Corbin of Glastonbury CT.
A memorial service will be held Saturday December 30, 2017, at 11AM at the Newkirk & Whitney Funeral Home, 318 Burnside Avenue, East Hartford, CT 06108. Burial is private. All are welcome to gather from 10-11AM prior to the service.
