Nancy Joyce

Nancy J. (Dorey) Joyce, 67, of East Hartford, CT, peacefully entered into rest on July 17, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of almost 44 years to Douglas Joyce. She was born July 1, 1958, in Manchester, CT, the daughter of the late Alfred and Pearl Dorey.

Nancy graduated from Penney High School, East Hartford, in 1976 and went on to marry the love of her life on October 9, 1981. Together, they built a life full of love, laughter, and unwavering family bonds.

She followed her husband Douglas throughout his career in the Navy, living in California, South Carolina, Virginia, Maine, and Groton, CT, managing the household during his many deployments. She began her professional career as the Tech Shop Manager at CompUSA, before transitioning to the American Red Cross, from which she retired to become "Grammy."

Nancy’s greatest joy was her family. Her children and grandchildren were her greatest accomplishment. The last 14 years as "Grammy", her grandchildren were the center of her world. She found happiness in the everyday moments, attending school events, sports games, cookouts, and simply being present for the people she loved.

She is survived by her husband, Douglas (SK/SS) USN (retired), and their two children: Christopher (Gina) of Vernon, CT, and Timothy (Kate) of East Hartford, CT. Nancy also leaves behind treasured grandchildren: Rylee, CJ, and Michelle, each of whom brought immeasurable joy to her life, and her beloved cats, Ash, Zoom, and Smokie, along with her sidekick puppy, Lunatuma

Nancy is also survived by many beloved adopted children and grandchildren throughout the years, always providing a meal, a place to rest, a nurturing heart, and support, creating a legacy of love that will live on in all who knew her.

Nancy was predeceased by her loving parents, Alfred and Pearl, brothers Dick and Bill, sister Sandy, and brother-in-law Johnny.

A Calling Hours will be held on Saturday, August 9, 2025, from 11AM to 12PM at the Newkirk & Whitney Funeral Home, 318 Burnside Ave, East Hartford, CT 06108. A Celebration of Life service will be held immediately following at NewKirk & Whitney Funeral Home at 12PM.
