Patrick A. Hellandbrand Sr.

He was born in Manchester and was a lifelong resident. Patrick proudly served his country during WW II with the US Army. He was a master carpenter and worked in the area for many years. He was a true handyman who took pride in helping all his family and friends. He loved the outdoors and truly enjoyed fishing, hunting, boating and tinkering with automobiles; he was also a talented musician. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mary (Merlino) Hellandbrand, and his devoted children, two sons and two daughters, Patrick Hellandbrand, Jr. and his wife, Susan of Tolland; Jean McAllister of East Hartford; Diane and Mark Miley of East Granby and Michael Hellandbrand of Wilmington, NC. He leaves five beloved grandchildren who were his pride and joy, Patricia Kelly; Damon Hellandbrand, Mark and Michael McAllister, Michael Hellandbrand, he also leaves several great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by several brothers and sisters.The Funeral service will begin Monday, May 3, 2010 at 10:00 AM the Newkirk & Whitney Funeral Home, 318 Burnside Ave. East Hartford, with a service at 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will be at Hillstown Road Cemetery in Manchester. Calling hours will be on Sunday, May 2, 2010 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
