
Rosa Santiago DeJesus, 91, of Manchester, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 7, 2015, surrounded by her family. She was born to the late Manuel and Engracia Calderon Santiago of Monte Llano Morovis, Puerto Rico on April 21, 1924. Rosa is preceded in death by her husband Faustino DeJesus Torres, her daughter-in-law Hilda DeJesus, and son Hector Luis DeJesus.
Rosa leaves to cherish her loving memory her beloved children Rafael and his wife, Margaret of New Jersey; Juan Angel of New York; Ulises and his wife, Evangelina of Manchester; Angel Miguel and his wife, Virginia of East Hartford; Aida Margarita of Manchester; Carmen Mercedes of Manchester; Luis Fernando and his wife, Gladys of Manchester; and Lillian Esther of Manchester.
She also leaves behind grandchildren Jason, Daniel, and David; Axel, Odalis and Elvin; Brenda, Iveliz, Rosaliz, Pablo, Maliceliz and Nicholle; Miguel, Yamelies, and Alex; Daisy, Waleska, and Yonatan; Gamalier and Gabriel; Luis and Damian; Bernabeth, Yanadys, and Yanira; Brandon and Kayla. Thirty-three great-grandchildren, her brother Anibal Santiago Calderon and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Family and friends were Rosa’s love and joy. She cherished praying the Rosary and always enjoyed helping others in need. She lived with an unlocked door and always welcomed you with a hot cup of coffee, a great big loving hug, and a smile on her face.
Rosa requested a private funeral with her family.
The family wishes to thank the staff at North Central Hospice and Palliative Care (Visiting Nurse & Health Services of Connecticut), for all of their understanding, support, and kindness over the last few days of her life; and friends for their love and words of encouragement.
