
Rose M. Flint 99, widow of Albert Flint since 1999 of Storrs, CT passed away after a brief illness. Rose was born on August 10, 1922, in Brooklyn, NY to (the late) Elizabeth Bruder and Joseph Stein. Rose graduated from Bishop McDonnell High School and Catherine Gibbs Business School before starting her career as a legal secretary. Rose met her husband, Albert as she was enjoying one of her favorite activities going to church dances/ballroom dancing. They were married for 51 years. After she married, Rose became a homemaker/volunteer at church/school activities. She lived in Queens for 36 years where she raised 6 children together with Al, before retiring to Nashua, New Hampshire which she called home for 26 years. Rose was a parishioner of St. Patrick’s RC Church in Nashua, NH before relocating to Storrs, CT. Rose and her husband loved antiques, especially Depression Glass. What started as a hobby, soon became a business, buying and selling of colorful glass in NYC and then in New Hampshire. She also delighted in seeing the autumn colors as she took rides in the country with her husband and other family members in later years. Rose will be remembered by her surviving children: Albert Flint and wife, Clare of Highlands Ranch, Colorado, Paul Flint of South River, New Jersey, Teresa Athas, and husband, John of Centreville, MD. She will be remembered by her grandchildren: Nicole Holtman, Chris Athas, Paulie Flint and Matthew Flint. Rose recently became a great grandmother in 2020 of Olivia Athas and Hadley Holtman. There are special nieces and nephews who will also miss Rose. Rose was predeceased by her daughters Mary Flint, Rose Powers as well as her son, John Flint. The Flint Family would like to express our deep gratitude to the staff of Mansfield Nursing Center in Storrs, CT for their wonderful care and kindness for Rose in the past 4+ years (especially to Heather, Stacey, Marissa, Sue, Bailey). We would also like to thank the staff/owner of Pine Street Eatery in Nashua, NH for always making Mom a part of their restaurant family and brightening her weekly visits (especially Cindi, Carolynn, Edith, Donna). Funeral Services will begin with wake at Newkirk & Whitney Funeral Home located at 318 Burnside Ave., in East Hartford, CT on Friday, Oct. 29 from 4-7 PM. Brief additional time for visiting hours will be 9:00 – 9:45 on Saturday, Oct. 30, preceding the Funeral Mass at St. Margaret Mary located at 80 Hayes Road in South Windsor at 11:00 AM.
