

Shirley (Soucie) Paradis, 77, of East Hartford, loving wife of Adrian Paradis for 57 years, passed away on May 22, 2012 at Manchester Manor Nursing Home after a brief illness. Born in Winterville, Maine, she was the daughter of the late Jack and Abella Soucie. Moving to Connecticut in 1954, she resided in the Town of East Hartford for 60 years. Shirley was a parishioner of St. Mary’s Church. A devoted mother and grandmother, she will be deeply missed by all. She enjoyed spending time with her family and adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren to whom she was known as “Memere”. She was the unselfish matriarch who cared more about helping others than herself. Shirley is survived by three sons: Michael Paradis and his wife Marcia of Ellington, Kevin Paradis and his wife Jill of South Windsor and Donald Paradis and his wife Diane of South Windsor and two daughters: Debra Delconte and her husband Ron of North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and Cindy Silvestri and her husband Arthur of South Windsor. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren: Randy, Andrea, Brooke, Kerry, Ryan, Josh, Matthew, Andrew, Katelyn, J.P. and Chris as well as 3 great grandchildren: Cameron, Audrey and Raelyn. She is also survived by her brother John Soucie of East Windsor and two sisters, Theresa Michaud and her husband Claude of Newington and Jeanette Michaud of St. Agatha, Maine. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother Doran Soucie. The family wishes to send special thanks to the staff of the Visiting Nurse’s Association, Hospice, Caring Hands and Manchester Manor Nursing Home. Friends and family are invited to gather for Shirley’s Memorial Service at Our Lady of Peace Church, 370 May Rd., East Hartford on Friday, May 25, 2012 at 10:30a.m., followed by the committal of her ashes in St. Mary Cemetery, East Hartford.
