

Sophie (Mankus) Jakoboski, 96, of East Hartford, passed away on Sunday, March 15, 2015. She was the beloved wife for 60 years of the late Anthony Jakoboski. She was born in 1919 on Kerry Street in Manchester, the daughter of Stanley and Rose (Deptula) Mankus who emigrated from Poland.
Sophie was a resident of East Hartford for over 70 years. She retired from Pratt & Whitney where she was an inspector. Sophie was an excellent cook and baker who enjoyed hosting holiday celebrations. She cherished time spent with her grandchildren. She will be most remembered for her sense of humor and love of fun.
She is survived by her daughters Carol Pawlowski and her husband Henry of Manchester, Linda Blanchette of Ashford, her five grandchildren, Christi Johnson, Douglas Johnson, Henry Pawlowski Jr., Dawn Pawlowski and Sarah Carlson and her husband Michael; seven great grandchildren, Amber, Anthony, Sydney, Mallorie and Avery Johnson, Jacob and Kaleb Carlson; her great great-granddaughter, Leanna Johnson; her three sisters Helen Jones, Agnes Snipes, Johanna Roley and her husband Robert all of Florida. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was predeceased by three brothers, Stanley, Eddie and Bruno Mankus.
Friends and family are invited to gather at 12Noon for a period of visitaion, on Thursday, March 19th, at Newkirk & Whitney Funeral Home, 318 Burnside Ave., East Hartford, CT 06108 followed by a Funeral Service at 1:00PM at the funeral home. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery.
