

Theresia (Steinmacher) Holden, 100, a lifelong resident of Greenfield, died Monday January 13, 2014. She was born in Leyden, Massachusetts, a daughter of the late Valentine and Theresia (Babits) Steinmacher. She loved spending time at the family cottage on Lake Seymour in Vermont and the call of the loons, doing needlework, baking, bird watching and family holiday’s. She will be remembered for her loving, gentle nature and her optimistic outlook. Theresia was predeceased by her beloved husband William H. Holden in 1982. She is survived by her loving daughter Kathleen MacLeod and her husband Norman, her loving son William “Bill” Holden Jr. and his wife Elaine all of Greenfield, her six grandchildren, Tammy Raymond and her husband Jonathan, James Holden and his fiancée Jessica, Scott MacLeod, Stephanie Rowe and her husband Stephen, Jason MacLeod and his wife Danyelle, Michael Holden and his wife Tracy, 13 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be Saturday January 18, 2014 at 9 AM from the Smith-Kelleher Funeral Home, 87 Franklin St., followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial 10 AM at Holy Trinity Church, burial will follow in Green River Cemetery, all in Greenfield. Visiting hours at the funeral home will be Friday January 17th from 5-7 PM.
