Violet affectionately known as "Pat" Archer (71) was the daughter of the late Enid De Souza and Frank Vandeyar. She was born on June 19, 1945. She immigrated from Guyana, South America on May 9, 1965 (which was Mothers' Day that year) with her two brothers and one sister. She resided in Hartford, CT.
She graduated from Greater Hartford Community College with an Associates degree in Early Childhood Education. She went on to pursue a Bachelors degree in Social Work from Saint Joseph College, in West Hartford, CT. She graduated in 1986 and was on the Dean's List while at Saint Joseph College now the University of Saint Joseph.
Pat worked for several years with the Aetna and Wintonbury Manor. In December 1986 she started working at Goodwill Industries in Hartford, CT. She worked as a job coach with consumers with disabilities for nearly 23 years. She enjoyed her job immensely as she was a compassionate and caring individual. She retired from Goodwill Industries after an exemplary career of caring for others.
Pat was a devout Catholic. She attended mass at St. Justin-St. Michael Parish and the Cathedral of Saint Joseph. She loved to give generously to those who are less fortunate. Underprivileged children had a special place in her heart. Her favorite charity was Children International where she sponsored many children not just for several years but for decades. She enjoyed reading, knitting, watching movies, and listening to music. Eating at Red Lobster was another favorite past-time as well as acknowledging special occasions by sending cards, she also had an interesting sense of humor.
Pat was predeceased by her husband, Bradley, whom she married on December 10, 1965, her mother, father, grandson Bryson L. Archer, step father and a brother, Vincent.
She leaves to mourn her passing, her two children, of whom she was very proud, Allison S. Weir and her husband Richard, Brian C. Archer and his wife Takisha. She was a loving grandmother to James Weir, Serena Weir and Trinity Archer. She also leaves behind a brother Ronald De Souza and his wife Mardel, a sister Pamela DeSouza and her husband Patrick De Abreu and uncles, Frank Nobrega and Stanley Greaves. She also leaves a host of nieces, Lashelle, Janelle, Nicole, Tiphareth, Crystal, Lorraine and Renel, and a host of great nieces, great nephews, family and friends, especially June Greaves, Felicia Bovell and Diana Tarbox.
Her memory will live on through the kindness we share to one another. Gone but not forgotten. She will always be remembered and fondly thought of for her quiet disposition and warm smile.
Rest In Peace.
