

He grew up in a large family in Middletown, Connecticut. Upon high school graduation from Woodrow Wilson, he joined the Navy for a 4 year term. In 1964, in Middletown, he completed the Stop & Shop Apprentice Training Course to be a Meat Cutter, which is what he did until retiring and moving to Florida with his lovely wife, Alice, in 2008. Alice and Bill happily lived in Port Saint Lucie, FL with lots of friends and family until her untimely death in 2013. He moved back to Connecticut where he could be closer to his children. At the end of his quiet but peaceful life he was living in Stafford Springs, CT.
He was preceded in death by his parents Thomas and Mildred Greenwood Chamis; by his wife Alice Laurette Robida Chamis; and by his siblings Thomas Chamis, Dorothy LaBella, Raymond Chamis, Robert Chamis, and Jack Chamis.
Bill is survived by his siblings Grace Cwikla, Elaine Parachini, Millie Chamis, Ronald Chamis, and Diane Milardo; his children Bill Chamis Jr., Deborah Winicki, and Jeffrey Chamis; his grandchildren Orlando Rivera, Denise Rivera, Joshua Chamis, Elizabeth Chamis, Jason Chamis, Hannah Catman, Jonathan Winicki, and Christian Winicki; and his great granddaughter Isabella Rivera.
