

Yolanda Gusy, 82, of East Hartford, beloved wife of the late James Gusy Sr. passed away on Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at Manchester Memorial Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Buffalo, New York to the late Henry and Sophie Urbanski.
She moved to Connecticut in 1954 and raised her family in East Hartford where she was a resident for 59 years. Mrs. Gusy was employed by the May Company retiring after a 27 year career. She was a founding member of St. Christophers Church and also a charter member of Glenbrooke Swim Club and the East Hartford Ski Club. In her later years, Yolanda enjoyed activities with the E/H Senior Center and the Red Hat Society. She spent time playing cards, bingo and following sports, particularly Uconn, the Yankees and the Buffalo Bills. She got her exercise and took pride doing her own yard work until this past autumn. She will be most remembered for supporting her grandchildren, constantly being present at their school, sport and creative activities.
She will be dearly missed by her son James Gusy Jr and wife Susan of Vernon Ct, daughter Susan Mears and husband Keith of Vernon Ct, son Jeffrey Gusy and Kate formerly of South Windsor Ct., her grand-children Sarah and husband Chris, Justin and wife Allyson, Shannon, Julie, Rebecca, Jennifer and her three great grand-daughters. She leaves her brother Michael Urbanski of Depew NY and was predeceased by her brother Floyd Urbanski and her sister Alice Barczykowski. She also leaves two nieces who were very special to her, Betty-Lou and Sharon.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, April 11, 2013, at 10 AM, at St Christophers RC Church, 538 Brewer St, East Hartford, Ct. Burial will follow in Silver Lane Cemetery. There will be no calling hours.
