April Marie Evans Gerish

Born April 1, 1980 the daughter of Robert and Patricia Evans, April Marie Gerish died suddenly due to complications of surgery October 20, 2010 at the age of 30. A 1998 graduate of Perry High School, she was currently working as a Conference Director at the Okemos Conference Center as a Certified Meeting Professional. April was a member of the Corunna VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed bowling, traveling, and staying connected with her friends through Facebook. Her most precious times were spent reading to her daughter and spending time with her family.

April was preceded in death by her grandparents, Hubart J. and Ruth (Pawson) Evans and Kenneth and Catherine (Coleman) Green; step-brother Paul Hubart Evans; aunt Ginny Ruzicka; and grandmother-in-law Geraldine Jones. She is survived by her loving husband of 4 short years, Zachary; daughter Zoe; parents; parents-in-law Michael and Barbara (Jones) Gerish; grandparents-in-law Elmer and Ruth Gerish of Bay City, MI and Orlo and Nancy Jones of Kawkawlin, MI; sister-in-law Sandra Gerish of Kawkawlin, MI; aunts and uncles Richard and Connie Green of Perry, Tom and Nancy Green of Owosso, Raymond and Janet Sawyer of Owosso, Richard and Dorothy Evans of Duarte, CA; James and Janice Sego of Perry; great aunt and uncle, Shirley and Orville Selfridge of Ovid; many loved cousins, and her little wiener dog Spike.

A Funeral Mass will be held Monday, October 25, 2010 at 10:00 AM at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 955 Alton Rd, East Lansing, MI 48823 with the Rev. Mark Inglot officiating. Interment will follow in Deepdale Cemetery, Lansing. The family will receive friends Sunday from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 PM at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 1730 E. Grand River Ave, East Lansing and one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Zoe’s College Fund c/o the funeral home.
