

Beatrice Hope Thomas was born on July 18, 1919 in Detroit, the daughter of Frank and Beatrice (Hoover) James, and passed away July 30, 2015 at the age of 96. Beatrice loved life and all that it had to offer. She enjoyed traveling, taking cruises, and going for long walks and looking for her cardinals. She cherished her family and thrived on special times spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Beatrice loved to sing, loved God and was involved in church. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Benjamin David Thomas; siblings, Frank, Phyllis, Dickie, Eileen, and Shirley; and two grandchildren, Shaunna and Thomas. Surviving to cherish her memory are daughters, Lorrie (the late Charles) Schartow, Patricia (Richard) Curtis, Gale (John) Ceccato, and Jennifer Thomas. She also leaves eleven grandchildren and many great-grandchildren, her brother Donald (Marge) James and sister Joyce Harris. A funeral service will be held at 12 noon on Thursday, August 6, 2015 at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 1730 East Grand River Ave., East Lansing, MI. The family will receive friends from 6~8 pm on Wednesday, August 5th at the East Lansing chapel and 1 hour prior to the service. For those desiring, contributions may be made in memory of Beatrice to the Salvation Army or a Hospice organization of their choosing.
