She was born on August 2, 1967, in Dearborn, Michigan, to Charles Warren Carlsen and Susan Maureen Matheney.
Cindy married Anthony Brennan Bono on August 8, 1992, in Detroit, Michigan. She is survived by her loving husband, Anthony; her children, Natalie Grace Bono, Brennan Anthony Bono, and Heather Marie Bono; her grandson, Julian Edward Bono; parents, Charles and Susan Carlsen; siblings, Connie Spoeneman (Chris) and Carrie Chadwick (Mike); aunts and uncles, Earl Carlsen (Carol), Lorraine Carlsen, Patty Detloff, Jean Telep (Robert), Frank Carlsen (Diane), and Michael Matheney; cousins, Lori Pryzbylo (Nick), Cristen Alimario (Allen), Eric Carlsen (Pam), Jillian Magic (Kevin), Jessica Yoder (Kelly), Allison Hooban, Jacob Carlsen (Monica), John Argue, and Kurt Argue; and nieces and nephews, Lauren Haynes (Devin), Charles Spoeneman, Stephen Spoeneman, David Miller, and Joseph Miller. She is preceded in death by her niece, Marissa Bono in 2023; uncle, Dale Carlsen in 2023; cousin, Cathy Schindler in 2017; niece, Khristeenia Niedoliwka in 1999; father-in-law, William Bono in 1994; and her grandparents, Warren & Betty Carlsen and Robert & Kay Matheney.
Cindy was a dedicated educator, earning her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Education from Western Michigan and Cal-State Fullerton. She shared her passion for learning at Ladera Palma Elementary School in La Habra, California, and later at Alaiedon Elementary School and Mason Middle School in Mason, Michigan.
Beyond her career, Cindy had a wide range of interests, including reading, puzzles, scrapbooking, singing, traveling, and playing golf. She cherished moments with her family and pets and enjoyed attending concerts or lounging in her pajamas in her leisure time.
Cindy's gentle demeanor and unwavering kindness touched the lives of all who knew her. She exemplified dignity, grace, and kindness in every aspect of her life. She carried a natural grace of etiquette and was a natural vision of beauty. Cindy will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
