David Charles Achterberg

Dave is survived by his siblings, Bill Achterberg (Vicky), Ken Achterberg (Jeanette), and Eloise Hoke (Steve); children, Randy Achterberg (Carrie), Jill Johnson (Jeff); grandchildren, Drake, Pearce, Parker and Evan. Dave received his B.A. and M.B.A. in Transportation from Indiana University and then served his country in Vietnam leading South Vietnamese troops, and also used his knowledge of logistics to play Santa to the troops. He returned home and worked for Cummins Diesel and Federal Mogul. He moved to Lansing and worked at Trinity Church until health issues put him in long term care. During these years he concentrated on getting better, increasing his faith, and helping others, which included being on the resident's council. We will miss Dave but realize he is in the arms of his Creator.

Memorial services will take place beginning at 11am at Trinity Church (3355 Dunckel Rd, Lansing, MI 48911) on March 24th, 2018. Visitation one hour prior. Interment at Fort Custer National Cemetery.
