

Dorothy H. Manderscheid, East Lansing, aged 83, passed away on Sunday, August 16, 2015. Dorothy was born in Marshalltown, Iowa, on May 22, 1932, the daughter of Harry and Bertha (Schneider) Varnum. She met Lester Manderscheid, the love of her life, at Iowa State University, and they married in 1953. After raising a family, she went back to school for her Masters of Library Science degree. Dorothy headed the Mathematics Library at Michigan State University for many years. She was active in St. Thomas Aquinas Parish and in the MSU community.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Les. Surviving are her children David Manderscheid (Susan Lawrence), Paul Manderscheid (Ruth Jory), Laura (Steve) Pechacek, and Jane Manderscheid (Fletcher Miller); and her grandchildren, Janell Pechacek and Dan Pechacek.
The Memorial Mass will be celebrated Friday, August 21, 11:00 a.m., at St. Thomas Aquinas Parish, 955 Alton Road, East Lansing.
