

Born in Niles, Michigan on January 2, 1934, Duane was the oldest of three children (Marilyn Osgood and Dale Mayhew) born to George and Helen Mayhew. Duane was preceded in death by his parents.
Duane was a graduate of Niles High School (Class of 1952) and Albion College (Class of 1956). He was a graduate of the Medical College of the University of Saskatchewan (Class of 1966). Duane was a Doctor of Medicine, a Board Certified Otolaryngologist, and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
As a child, Duane enjoyed magic and piano, sports and theater. Throughout his lifetime, he enjoyed spending time with family, listening to classical music, reading books, watching movies and theater, and traveling. He had a quick mind and a good sense of humor, always looking for opportunities to share a pun. He loved to talk, telling stories and sharing memories. Duane was active in Rotary for most of his life. He was married to Maureen Ruth Mayhew for almost 65 years, whom he deeply loved.
Duane is survived by his wife, Maureen, and his two children, Steve (Sarah) Mayhew and David Mayhew. Also surviving are two cherished grandchildren, Andrew (19) and Claire (13) Mayhew.

A memorial mass will take place on Friday, April 24, 2026, at 11 AM at St Thomas Aquinas Parish, 955 Alton Rd, East Lansing, MI 48823, with a visitation beginning the hour prior at 10 AM.
