

Elizabeth Lee Band passed away at Hospice House of Mid-Michigan on August 30, 2013 following a three-year courageous battle with cancer. She was predeceased by her father, R. Neal Band and is survived by her mother, Henretta T. Band, and friends and co-workers.
Born in Lansing, MI, she was a resident of East Lansing and attended St. Thomas Aquinas and Lansing Catholic Central High School. She was a graduate of Michigan State University, Winter 1987; Thomas Cooley School of Law, Montgomery Class of 1992 and obtained a Masters Degree in Labor and Industrial Relations in Spring 2000 from MSU.
She started with the Michigan Employment Security Board of Review as a staff attorney in 1994. This became the Michigan Compensation Appellate Commission in August 2011.
Elizabeth was an accomplished horse woman. She was Adult Equitation Champion, Lake Effects Horse Show Association, on her horse Spot Check in 1999. Later she showed him to Third Level Dressage before he succumbed to laminitis. She obtained firsts in training level dressage at Copper Creek and Waterloo in 2010 on her mare On Ice.
Elizabeth was a member of the Anthony Wayne Chapter, Children of the American Revolution, Lansing, MI and became a 3-generation member of the Joseph Gravely DAR in Danville, VA with her grandmother, Lucile
A. Trent, and her mother, Henretta T. Band. When it disbanded, she became a member-at-large.
Funeral services will be at 2 pm on Wednesday, September 4, 2013 at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Home, 1730 E. Grand River Ave, East Lansing, MI with the Rev. Dr. Jennifer Browne presiding. Elizabeth’s mother will receive friends from 12:00~2:00 pm prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Glendale cemetery, Okemos.
