Frances was very active throughout her life. She started out graduating from MSU with a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in education. While attending MSU she was part of Delta Kappa Lambda, Alpha Lambda Chapter. Frances was also very active in AAUW (American Association of University Women) throughout her college career.
After college she found her calling as an elementary teacher in the Okemos School District for 30 years.
Teaching led her to become a lifetime member of MEA (locally, statewide, and nationally); she achieved numerous leadership positions in the Okemos Education Association, Michigan Education Association and MEA-Retired.
Frances loved her Lord and loved to contribute to her church families; she worked part-time with the First Baptist Church as a Director of Adult Ministries, full-time Director of Christian Education at Olivet Church and was active in the Lansing Christian Women’s Club.
Not only did she love teaching and contributing her time to the church, she also loved theater. Frances was a supporter of the Wharton, Boarshead, Riverwalk, and Lansing Civic Players theaters.
She took pride in her community by belonging to the Haslett Women’s Cub and had many years of political activism.
When Frances had some down time, she loved doing crossword puzzles, could curl up with a good book at any given time and loved to watch her Spartan’s and Detroit sports team.
A celebration of Life will be held for Frances at the Olivet Baptist Church, 5455 W. Willoughby Rd, Lansing, MI at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 22, 2018, with a visitation one hour prior to the service.
Burial will take place at a later date at Greeley Cemetery, Lachine, MI.
