Gloria Jean Beard

Gloria Beard, 81, formerly of Lima, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 26, 2022 in Lansing, Michigan. She was born, raised and worked in Lima most of her life, but also lived in the Detroit area for several years. She was an executive assistant at several companies and retired from General Dynamics Corp in 2000. She worked many years as a volunteer at St. Rita’s Medical Center and loved working in the gift shop. She was a fierce supporter of animals and had a special spot in her heart for them. She loved her grandchildren, reading, bowling, crossword puzzles and playing cards with her friends. She moved to East Lansing to be closer to her family who she loved and cherished dearly. She is survived by her daughter, Lisa (Tom) Bres; four grandchildren, Alexander, Jason, Rachel, and Hailey, all of East Lansing, MI; and brother, Bill Beard Jr. of The Villages, FL and his four children. She was a beloved dog owner to her fur baby, Frankie. She is preceded in death by her parents, William and June (McElroy) Beard and her partner of 22 years, William Sarno. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Capital Area Humane Society or your local animal shelter. A funeral Mass will be held on Friday, December 2, 2022 at 11:00 AM, with a one-hour prior visitation from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 955 Alton Road, East Lansing, MI.
