

Harriet Jean Watling Wever, 93, beloved wife and mother, passed away Sunday, July 12, 2015 at her home. Mrs. Wever was born on November 15, 1921 in Wayne, New York. She served in the United States Coast Guard SPARs in World War II. After the war, she attended Michigan State College graduating in 1948 and met her future husband, Richard, while there. Mrs. Wever was a lifelong learner, and an avid reader. She loved to cook, and had an early interest in natural and healthful foods. She played bridge with a group of her friends for over fifty years. She started running in her 50s,and was a successful competitive runner, holding many single age and age group records during her 50s and 60s.
Mrs. Wever is preceded in death by her husband of sixty years, Richard C. Wever, as well as her parents and a brother, Charles S. Watling. She is survived by her three daughters, Hila Wever (Steve Pollard) of Leesburg, VA, Kari Chandler (Jerry) of Okemos, MI and Nancy Sentipal (Andy) of Fredericksburg, VA. She is also survived by her five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren, as well as her brother Edwin Watling of Geneva, NY and her sisters Loise Kiesling of Sun City, AZ, Pauline Castle of Carmel, IN and Margaret Sorenson of Katy, TX. Gorsline-Runciman Funeral Home in East Lansing, MI is serving the family. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
