She was born on March 16, 1949, in Vellbach-Eschach, Germany, and immigrated to the United States with her family in 1956, becoming a U.S. citizen in 1963.
Inge was a dedicated educator, earning her diploma from Nativity High School in Detroit, and degrees from the University of Michigan, Eastern Michigan University, and Oakland University. Her career spanned several roles, including an interpreter for an international corporation and a teacher for pre-primary special education children across multiple school districts including Copper County ISD, St. Clair County ISD, East China Public Schools, and Leslie Public Schools. Inge also served on the Building Strong Families team at MSU Extension Services.
An avid quilter, reader, and traveler, she was passionate about exploring nature, having visited 47 states and many national parks, always seeking the beauty of the outdoors through hiking and photography. While the sights were always amazing she especially enjoyed her time road tripping across the country to visit her sons and good friends. An enthusiastic downhill skier, she enjoyed hitting the slopes with family and friends until the age of 60. Above all, Inge loved to spoil her granddaughter and granddogs.
Inge is survived by her loving husband of 46 years, Frank Bommarito, and their two sons, Jesse (Stacy) Bommarito of Seattle, WA, and John (Kristen) Bommarito of Denver, CO. She was a cherished grandmother to Kira Bommarito, who brought her immense joy. Inge was preceded in death by her parents, Josef and Marie Antoni.
Inge's warm spirit and zest for life will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
A Celebration of Life will be held on November 30, 2024 at the Michigan Wildlife Conservancy in Bath, Michigan. Contact any family member for details.
Memorial contributions in memory of Inge may be directed to the American Cancer Society, or your charity of choice.
