Irma Broderick Jacoby, 90, a leader of critical care volunteers at Sparrow Hospital for more than 20 years, died Nov. 10 at Mid-Michigan Hospice House of complications from an autoimmune disorder.
Mrs. Jacoby’s memorial, delayed due to the recent death of her son, Robert, in Washington, will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 14, at the Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 1730 E. Grand River Avenue, East Lansing. The family requests that no flowers be sent. Donations may be sent to the Simon Wiesenthal Museum of Tolerance, 9786 West Pico Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90035 or to the Sparrow Hospital Foundation.
Mrs. Jacoby was the wife of Robert Jacoby, longtime president of the Lansing accounting firm Simplified Bookkeeping and Tax Service. She served as the company’s human resources director throughout the 1970s. In 1986, Mrs. Jacoby began what was for her a second career as a volunteer at Sparrow Hospital. She served as president of the TLC Critical Care Lounge board of directors many times and devoted hundreds of hours each year to her work.
Mrs. Jacoby is survived by her daughter, Susan Jacoby, of New York City, and two granddaughters, Alexandra S. Jacoby and Anna S.B. Jacoby, of Washington, DC. On line condolences may be made at www.greastlansing.com.
