Jan Harmon-Thompson, 80, of East Lansing, MI, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 25, 2018. She was born July 5, 1938, in Rotterdam, Holland to the late John Peter and Jozina Pearl Mast (Kastelein), and immigrated to the United States with her family after World War II.
Jan had a zest for life and loved people unconditionally, reflected in her decades of service as a nurse at Ingham Medical Center. She was also a mentor to many people from various walks of life, helping them through difficult circumstances many times. She lived with quality of life and taught her children and grandchildren to make the most of the present, by living one day at a time. Jan lived with the love of God, which was manifested in the impact she made on people. Family and Friends were the most important thing to her.
Jan is survived by her sons, Jeffrey (Margie) Harmon and Matthew (Laurie) Harmon; daughters by marriage, Gail Hadley and Gwen (Brian) Meredith; grandchildren, Molly, Maisie, Donnie, Jakob, and Daniel Harmon, Dan (Rachel) Hadley, Katie (Kevin) Harvatine and Christine (Keith) Ransom; five great-grandchildren; sisters, Joyce Mast, Babs (Oneal) Croft and Anna-Kae (Peter) Kazmier and adopted sisters/life-long friends, Dori Backmeier and Marion Thrana. She was preceded in death by her husband, Conrad Thompson, whom she loved dearly; sisters, Marian Bak and Sybil Mast; brothers, Dan, Andrew, Gerald, Harry, Adrian and John Mast and son-in-law, David Hadley.
Arrangements by Gorsline-Runciman Funeral Home, East Lansing.
