Jane Louise Finn, 73, of East Lansing, Michigan, passed away on February 3, 2026, after a short and devastating illness. Born on July 13, 1952, to Doss P. Dunn and Joanne L. Hoy, Jane grew up in Grand Ledge, Michigan, a place that shaped her lifelong sense of community and care.
She earned her bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University and went on to become a respected leader in health care advocacy. Jane devoted her professional life to improving the well-being of others, working with Children’s Special Health Care Services for the State of Michigan and later with the Michigan Antibiotic Resistance Reduction Coalition. Advocacy was not just her work—it was her calling. She fought for better health care not only for the public, but fiercely and tenderly for her own family. Although she fought multiple health battles over the years, she never once complained; she was immensely brave and eternally youthful.
Jane was beauty and grace personified. She loved deeply and lived generously, guided by uncompromising loyalty and an abiding faith in humanity. She found joy in travel, books, art, and the thrill of shopping—especially for anything that sparkled. She loved movies, baking, long lunches with her girlfriends, cackling laughter over a good game of cards, and, above all, time spent with her family, whom she adored without measure.
Her love and legacy live on in her soulmate and husband of 45½ years, Bernie Finn; her daughters, Jenn (husband Jason) and Julie (husband Rob); her cherished grandchildren, Calix, Calliope, and Dani; her brothers, Brian (wife Barb), Greg (wife Tracy), and Kevin (wife Gina); and her beloved cat, Shaina.
A private burial service will be held on Friday, February 6. A celebration of Jane’s life will take place on Saturday, February 7, from 1–3 p.m. (please contact Jenn for details). Though she is no longer with us in body, Jane’s spirit will endure forever.
