Jean Marie Britt

Jean M. (Black) Britt passed away peacefully at her home in Chesterland, Ohio on May 25. She was born in East Lansing, MI in 1924, the daughter of William M. Black and Mary Louisa (Van Syckle Black) Lange. She graduated from Okemos High School in 1942. Received her nursing degree from the Sparrow Hospital nursing program in 1945. She continued to obtain further degrees and honors throughout her lifetime.

Jean is survived by her sister Margaret (Wayne) Musbach, 3 daughters, Nancy (George) Paresa, Rebecca Fort, and Mary Lynn (Tom Bossack) Britt, 2 sons, Daniel (Diane) Britt, Kevin (Susan Huntington) Britt, as well as many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Jean was predeceased by her parents, her husband of 70 years, Alfred “Len” Britt, her daughter, Leslee Karen Britt, her son, David Britt, 3 sisters, Ada (Black Huyck) Meade, Mary Lou (Black) Ramsey, Georgia Kay (Black) Kreider, and 2 brothers William Alexander Black and William Mackie Black.

Family and friends are invited to visitation on Friday June 8 from 4-8pm at the Gorsline Runciman Funeral Home located at 1730 E Grand River Ave., East Lansing, MI 48823. Services will be held at the Okemos Community Church on Saturday June 9 at 11am (visitation from 10-11am at the church prior to service), followed by internment at Glendale Cemetery.
