Born June 12th, 1929 to Joseph Cavanaugh and Adele (Taggart) Cavanaugh in St. Louis, Michigan, her childhood was filled with horses, dogs, and adventures with her brothers Tom Cavanaugh and Jim Cavanaugh. Jean had a passion for music and joined the marching band in high school, playing the saxophone and later in life the accordion. Being ahead of her time, she went on to earn her bachelor’s degree in teaching from Marygrove College and her Master’s degree in education from the University of Michigan. After college Jean married the love of her life Leo D. Rambo. Jean and Leo moved to Okemos and Jean began teaching fourth grade at St. Thomas Aquinas where she retired 30 years later. She was well loved by the parish, students, and faculty of Saint Thomas Aquinas and enjoyed visits with former students and staff. She devoted much of her retired time to her grandchildren and husband, and thoroughly enjoyed taking her beloved dog Kiara for walks around the block. She enjoyed poached eggs and black coffee and loved crossword puzzles and reading. Jean spent much of her later life as a parishioner at Saint Martha’s Parish. Her patience was unmatched and her intelligence inspiring. Jean is preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Adele, her husband Leo D. Rambo, and her brother Tom Cavanaugh. She is survived by her three sons, Mike, John, and Paul (Laura) Rambo and her brother James (Marilynn) Cavanaugh. As well as seven grand children, Tim (Misti) Rambo, Andrew Rambo, Zack Rambo, Chloe Darnell, Emily Rambo, Tori Rambo, and Jesse Stone as well as three great-grandchildren Marleigh Rambo, Wyatt Rambo, and Jonathan Rambo. In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations to the churches of St. Thomas, St. Martha’s, the cancer research foundation of your choosing, or St. Thomas' Jean Rambo Scholarship Fund, 955 Alton Road, East Lansing, MI 48823
