Born in 1917 in Grand Rapids, Michigan to Henry and Clara Hornung, Jeane graduated from Michigan Sate University and continued her education at Wayne State University earning her masters degree in microbiology. Jeane spent most of her career employed at Bloggett hospital in Grand Rapids. She excelled in her field and had a passion for it that continued throughout her life.
In 1969 Jeane married Albert R Drury, DVM and together they moved to Massachusetts where she assisted her husband at his private practice. This was another field she found enjoyable and rewarding.
Jeane was always doing things to help others. She crocheted blankets for Capital Area Humane Society and made potholders for other charities. She taught others to do the same, and actively supported causes that aligned with her beliefs, like Doctors Without Borders and FINCA.
Later in life, Jeane enjoyed "Talking books" from the Michigan Library for the Blind, as her eyes deteriorated from macular degeneration. She loved scientific and medical books, as well as mysteries and anything pertaining to the natural sciences.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Albert Drury. Jeane will be lovingly remembered by her stepdaughters, Judith Tubbs and Elaine Drury; her grandchildren, Krista Hope, Kathleen Vida, and William Tubbs; and her great-grandchildren, Jesse and Cade Vida.
Memorial Services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to those organizations near and dear to Jeane's heart: Leader Dogs for the Blind, 1039 S. Rochester Rd., Rochester Hills, MI 48307-3115, FINCA International, PO Box 98048, Washington, DC 20090-8048, or Doctors Without Borders USA, P.O. Box 5030, Hagerstown, MD 21741-5030.
