Loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, daughter, artist, painter, needlework expert, knitter, crocheter, seamstress, baker extraordinaire, gourmet cook who hated garlic, chocoholic, New York Times crossword puzzle expert, accountant, head of the household, personal confidant, and a lefty. When the world said no, Joan said YES! Often in our shadow, she was the wind beneath all of our wings. She will remain in our hearts and minds forever. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Carlos, her parents, her sister Ruth Scott and her brother Dean. Surviving to cherish her memory are her children Nora Rifon, Deane (Julie) Rifon; her grandchildren Zoe Elizabeth Rifon Wilton and Max Rifon; and her niece Madeline (Robert) Brigham.
Memorial services will be held 3:30 p.m. Monday, May 22, 2017 at the Burcham Hills Retirement Center, Ada Whitehouse Room, 2700 Burcham Dr., East Lansing, MI, with visitation one hour prior.
The family is being served by Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, East Lansing. On-line condolences and memories may be shared with the family at www.greastlansing.com.
