

John Scott Wiegner, 95, of East Lansing, Michigan, passed away on January 22, 2024. He was born on September 6, 1928, in Elkhart, Indiana. John was a faithful, happy-go-lucky, steady, and cheerful individual. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
John served in the Marine Corps for two years and was proud of his military associations. After his service, he embarked on a successful career in the automotive industry. He worked with Studebaker before transitioning to Oldsmobile, where he excelled in body design and eventually became the body design manager. Throughout his career, John's contributions to the industry were highly regarded.
Outside of work, John had a passion for woodworking, welding, painting, running half marathons, and dancing. You could always find him doing something with his hands. He and his wife enjoyed spending his summers at Lake Harrison and their winters in Gulf Shore, Alabama. John's creativity and talent were evident in his hobbies, and he found great joy in pursuing them.
John was a devoted member of the Church of the Resurrection, where he worshipped for many years. His faith was an integral part of his life, and he found solace and community within the church. John was also a devoted member of the St. Vincent DePaul Society for 58 years.
John is survived by his brother Charles Wiegner (Carol), his loving wife of 36 years, Carol Ann Henry, his children Janis Stevens (Earl, deceased), Susan Russell, Karen Reay (Ian), Monica Stegeman (Mark), Catherine Rodmaker, Shari Griffiths, Michael Brown (Joy). He was preceded in death by his first wife, Jane Hampel-Mann, his parents John and Dorothy Wiegner, his sister Martha Wiegner, his brothers Monte Wiegner and Marvis Gibson, and his son-in-law Earl Stevens. John also leaves behind 13 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren, whose lives he touched with love and guidance.
In memory of John, contributions can be made to the St. Vincent De Paul Society at the Church of the Resurrection. This organizations were close to his heart, and he would have appreciated any support given in his honor.
John Scott Wiegner will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his achievements in his career, and his zest for life, and for doing what made him happy. His memory will forever be cherished by those who had the privilege of knowing him.
