She married Joseph Sanchez in 1955 and they embarked on a journey that followed his career with General Motors from New York to Central and South America before finally settling in Lansing, Michigan. Her life was filled with family and friends.
Joy was a woman of devout faith and longtime member of St. Thomas Aquinas Church. She was a volunteer and supporter of Mobile Meals, an avid gardener, voracious reader, antiques enthusiast, and loved dogs, good jokes, doing needlepoint, games of intellect, houseguests, having a cup of coffee and gossip with a friend, a good “heated” political discussion, anything Brazilian, and Rush Limbaugh.
She is and will be missed. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Jerry; husband; sons, J.J. and James and grandson, Jack Sanchez. She is survived by her sister, Joan (John) Joslin; brother, Jay (Patti) Bayman; sons, Jonathan and Jason (Kim); daughter-in-law, Michelle Sanchez and grandchildren, Joe, Travis, Ava and J.J.
A Mass will be celebrated on March 20th at 1 p.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 955 Alton Rd., East Lansing.
In lieu of flowers, Joy would be pleased if donations were made to your favorite charities or consider hers, which was the Rockport Texas Sacred Heart School that was devastated by Hurricane Harvey: Sacred Heart School (Hurricane Harvey Relief Assistance), 213 S.
