Judy L. Howell

Judy L. Howell, devoted wife and mother lost her battle with Alzheimer's on March 26, 2011.

She was preceded in death by her parents Marvin and Bertha Lazette, and her in father-in-law, Dr. Stewart F. Howell and mother-in-law Josephine Howell (Crook).

Born in Monroe, MI on October 31, 1946, she was a graduate of the Monroe High School class of 1964 and a 1969 graduate of Michigan State Universitywhere she earned a Masters of Special Education. She taught special education at the Walnut Street School in the Lansing School District (1969-1976) and later she devoted much of her life to her family.

Judy met her future husband of 41 years while she was a student at Michigan State University. Together they enjoyed traveling, Michigan State Sports and time with their family and friends. Judy was an avid tennis player and a long time member of Court One Athletic Club. She also enjoyed volunteering at theWharton Center where she was a member of the Inner Circle.

Surviving are her husband, Robert, daughter, Robyn (Matthew) Heron, son, Brian Howell, 2 grandchildren, Laylah and Peyton Heron and brother, Alan (Charlene) Lazette. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Wednesday, March 30, 2011 at the Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 1730 East Grand River, East Lansing, MI 48823 with the Reverend Penelope Swartz officiating. Interment will be in Glendale Cemetery, Meridian Township. The family will receive friends at the funeral home 6:00-8:00 PM Monday and 4:00-8:00 PM Tuesday.
