Linda was uniquely full of love, spirit, and tenacity. She survived multiple forms of cancer, difficult surgeries, and other challenging life events, yet exuded energy and love through it all. Linda brought light and life to the world - she tended a flourishing garden, adopted and spoiled countless animals, and frequently broke into dance and song. She answered the phone when you called, remembered the things you told her in amazing detail, and heartily encouraged her loved ones to follow their dreams.
Linda’s life was full of music. She attended Michigan State University and quickly distinguished herself as a gifted musician. From 1975 to 1977, she served as principal horn for the MSU Symphony Band, earning the respect and admiration of fellow musicians and faculty alike. Later, she would become a founding member of the MSU Strolling Spartans. In the organization’s early years, she played a central role in coordinating activities and establishing the traditions and structure that endure today. Her dedication helped shape the group into the respected and vibrant ensemble it remains.
Linda earned her Master of Social Work degree from Michigan State University and dedicated her professional life to caring for others. She served as a social worker for the Community Mental Health Authority of Clinton, Eaton, and Ingham Counties. Her compassion, sincerity, and tireless advocacy touched the lives of countless individuals and families. She retired from this role twelve years ago, and her legacy of devoted service and integrity will be felt for many years to come.
A powerful athlete, Linda embraced physical challenge with the same determination she brought to every aspect of her life. She trained regularly and competed at a high level well into her later years. She competed in marathons, triathlons, Iron Man races, and more. In October 2025, she ran yet another marathon in DC, and immediately signed up to run another race in May with her daughter and sister, reflecting her love of lifelong fitness and joy in sharing it with those she loved.
Above all, Linda was an incredibly loving mom, sister, aunt, great aunt, and friend. She is survived by so many friends and family members who will miss her greatly. Linda will be remembered for her strength, generosity, musical excellence, and boundless energy. Her sudden passing leaves a profound void in the lives of all of those who were lucky enough to love her, but a light that bright stays with you and will never be fully extinguished.
