Lois Ann Chick, age 83, born January 2, 1938 passed away on September 10, 2021. Ann was a lifelong resident of East Lansing, graduating from East Lansing High School in 1955 and then from Michigan State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Hotel/Restaurant Management in 1959. She cherished her family and made a point to support her children in their various activities and in turn, her grandchildren. She was a Cub Scout Den Mother and devoted many years of community service to the Junior League of Lansing. Ann enjoyed many years of golfing, loved traveling, shopping, attending Wharton Center events, playing bridge and gathering with family and friends on Glen Lake.

She was preceded in death by her parents Dr. Oliver B. and Bernice McGillicuddy, sister Sarah Jane (Tom) Ritter.

She is survived by her husband Lyle of 62 years; children: Jeff of Grand Rapids, Jackie (Russ) of Grand Rapids, Jerry of Chicago, Jay (Heather) of Battle Creek, and Jon of Williamston; eight grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Please accept my most profound condolences. I had the pleasure of working with Ann during my years as the East Lansing city clerk and then as her cochair Precinct 11 for the past two years. She was absolutely a delight to work with and her sense of humor was dry and witty. We liked to call ourselves “Chick and Wicks!” I long admired her ability to work the grueling hours of a precinct chair. She served East Lansing residents in this way for many many years. I envision her now in her heavenly existence playing golf with my mother and her friend, Ellen Cassidy. Sending hugs and good wishes to her earthly family.

My condolences for the Chick and McGillicuddy family.
My last time with Ann was on Tuesday Sept 7th shopping at Meijer. As always she had such a simile on her face to see me and Susan Miller at the store. We spoke about the family's and plans for next year a bit. Ann was a grandmother at the lake and all the times voting in East Lansing. Our family's were together my whole life. I do miss the times together with Ann and Lyle Chick, Winston and Nathalene Miller, Sis and Keith Miller.

God has taken her home to friends and family! We will see you again when our chores here are done.

To Lyle, kids and all Ann's friends of whom there are many I'm sure:
It saddens me to hear of this news, even though, sadly I live in the KC area and haven't kept in touch, I do have such great memories of the annual Christmas eve gatherings between Uncle Mac and Aunt Bernies' family and ours (Bob and Ruth)....Seems like such a long time ago . My favorite memory was in the early 60s when, unbeknownst to either family, we both gave Mac and Bob a Polaroid camera AT THE SAME TIME!!
Ann's sense of humor always will stick me as quick and 'right on'...RIP cousin ANN!!!
Love, cousin Missy
