Maryette Florence Richards

February 22, 1955 - April 8, 2026

Maryette F. Richards, born February 22, 1955, in Lansing, Michigan, passed away peacefully on April 8, 2026. She was the third daughter of George H and Gladys Richards. She grew up in Okemos, Michigan and graduated from Okemos High School.

Maryette was a longtime member of Okemos Community Church, where friendships and sense of community were important to her. Throughout her life, she faced challenges head on with strength, resilience, and determination, never losing her spirit. She found joy in cooking, attending performances at the Wharton Center, and spending time talking on the phone with friends and family. She will be remembered for her strength, her kindness, and her sense of humor.

Maryette is survived by her sisters, Sally (Tom) Suchevits of Aptos, CA; Marsha Davis of East Lansing, Ml; and Susan Baas of Auburn Hills, Ml; and several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by longtime, faithful friend, Jan Lawton of East Lansing, MI.

The family thanks staff at Burcham Hills Retirement Community and McLaren Hospice for their caring, compassionate care. She has been cremated and no service is planned. Contributions in her memory may be made to Okemos Community Church, 4734 Okemos Road, Okemos, MI 48864.
