Michael Henry Paquet passed away Sunday, September 19, 2021 following a 3- year battle with cancer. He was born September 16, 1950 in Lansing, Michigan. He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond J. Paquet; mother Florence Mary Paquet; infant brother Teddy and half-sister Norma (Boardman) Delo.
He is survived by his son Michael, daughter-in-law Daneene, grandsons Michael and Anthony, brothers: Raymond, James (Diane), Andrew (Susan), and John, sisters: Margaret, Anne Paquet-Howard (George), Kathleen Ruble, and Mary (Calvin) Taylor, as well as 13 nephews and nieces.
Mike was known as an advocate and fighter for those he helped. He was a compassionate and caring person. After a short time on the line at Oldsmobile/General Motors in Lansing, he became a committee man and a benefits rep where he fought for workers’ rights and a better standard of living. He fought hard for the ‘little guy.’ He would fight your battle if you were right, and challenge you if he thought otherwise. He would have made a great lawyer. He displayed these traits all his life. He was earnest and quick to take on any challenge he believed was worth the fight, including his final illness.
Mike was a huge fan of MSU Spartans football and basketball. He could breakdown the good and bad of their recruits, development and team plays as well as the coaches. Just ask him (or his son), and don’t call him during a game!
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 9, 2021 at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes,1730 E. Grand River Avenue, East Lansing.
