Norma E. Lucas was born in North Judson, Indiana, July 24, 1917, the daughter of Otto A. and Emilie (Adam) Schultz. She graduated from North Judson High school in 1934 and worked at the Superintendent’s office until her marriage to Robert E. Lucas, April 27, 1941. She was an active member of the Lutheran Church involved in choir and Sunday School for 20 years, and in school and scouting activities. She worked as a typist aiding her husband with publications and farmers meetings and senior citizen activities.
While taking care of five boys, she provided fresh produce from the garden. She also had interests in various needle work. Later in life she enjoyed traveling with Robert to all 50 states and 30 countries, including 2 years in Argentina.
She lived in the Lansing-Okemos are since 1951. Norma is survived by four of her five sons: Raymond of Rochester Hills, Milton and Keith of Okemos, and Charles (Theresa) of Colorado Springs.; three granddaughters, Rebecca, (husband Nick), Vanessa, (husband Marcos) and Joy; four grandsons, Russell, (wife Camelia), Ian, Andrew, and Alexander; and one great-grandson, Robert.
Norma’s husband Robert passed July 19, 2011 and her son Richard (Ann) of Haslett passed June 23, 2014.
Her brother Edward O. Schultz lives in Fort Wayne, Indiana and her two sisters passed away, Ada in 1936 and Jeanette Dutton in 2003. Norma was an active member of Martin Luther Chapel, East Lansing.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 1730 E. Grand River Ave, East Lansing on Wednesday, July 16, 2014. Visitation will be held Friday, July 18, 4-8 pm at O’Donnell Chapel, 302 Lane Street, North Judson, IN. Service will be held on Saturday with location to be determined. Burial at the Round Lake Cemetery following the service.
A memorial service will be held at the Martin Luther Chapel on August, 15, 2014 with a luncheon following. Memorial contributions may be made to Martin Luther Chapel, 444 Abbot Rd., East Lansing, MI 48823 or St. Peter’s Church, North Judson.
