Patricia Ann Herring Jackson

Patricia Ann Herring Jackson of Okemos, Michigan passed away on Monday, December 8th, 2025 at the age of 77. She was born on May 6th, 1948 in Roseboro, North Carolina before moving to Greensboro, North Carolina – a civil rights movement battlefield that sharpened her dogmatic sense of justice and molded Patricia into a clever and fearless social crusader.

Patricia graduated from Meharry Medical College with a PhD in Pharmacology in 1986 and worked as Professor of Microbiology at Michigan State University.

Patricia was actively involved in public service. She tirelessly served her community for over 20 years as a member of the Meridian Township Planning Commission, Trustee, and later as Township Supervisor.

She is preceded in death by her father, Joseph Herring, and younger brother, Joseph Herring Jr. She is survived by her spouse, Julius; children, Rahsaan, Sajida, and Ajani; grandchildren, Matthew, Henry, Reese, and August; mother, Dorothy Herring; and sister, Lynda Wilkerson.

Patricia’s children would like to thank her husband, Julius for incredible care and compassion he showed in shepherding her through each of her three harrowing battles with cancer.
