Reginald Eric Shelton, born in Detroit, on November 15, 1953, slipped the bonds of Earth on Easter Sunday. Katie, his devoted wife, was by his side during a brief battle with cancer. A man of simple tastes, with a soft spot for laughter and an affinity for his Appalachian Roots, he acquired a passion for guns, guitars and fast cars. Never one to be outdone by life's unexpected misfortunes, Reggie faced each day with grit and determination. His work ethic and upbeat disposition made him an ideal employee and steadfast friend to all who had been lucky enough to share time with him. Reggie's innate ability to see beyond societal barriers, combined with a natural curiosity about life, ensured his standing invitation to interact with a wide tapestry of interesting folk. An early introduction to the realm of guns and hunting by his father, Carl Shelton, and stepfather, Roland Harmes, led to a lifelong love of firearms. The burgeoning sharpshooter and aficionado enthusiastically shared his vast knowledge on the subject to all seekers, at the range, in the woods, in pheasant fields, in duck boats, or from behind the Dunham's Sporting Goods counter. The Troy High School graduate inherited a gift for music, and was a self-taught, proficient guitarist who, along with his harmonica and band mates, could make you tap your feet, wiggle in your seat, boogie to the beat, and forget every worry in the world. He never abandoned his first dream of making it big in the music industry while Workin' For A Livin' at AT&T and Sam's Club. Regg, no matter, you achieved Rock Star status in our not so humble opinion.
Pre-deceased by his mother, Lois (Leach) Harmes, and daughter Dana Shelton, he is survived and greatly missed by the love of his life, Katie (Mary K. Brandstatter) Shelton; her sons Cooper Herstein and Bauer Herstein; his son Tyler Shelton; granddaughter Darian Shelton; two great-grandsons; father Carl Shelton; stepmother Nancee Shelton; stepfather Roland Harmes; siblings Cynthia (Steven) Amroian, Jennifer Hart, Laurie (Todd) Brown, Scott (Sharon) Shelton, Brett Shelton, Lance Shelton, and Mark Harmes; and nieces and nephew Alyssa Harmes, Emerson Brown, and Heather Brown.
