Richard A. Blue, 81, of East Lansing, Mich., died February 6, 2018. He was born November 12, 1936, in LeMars, Ia. to the late Arthur Harold Blue and Mary Wallace Blue. He was predeceased by a brother, John William Blue.
Richard earned a BA degree in physics from Cornell College of Iowa in 1958, then went on to receive MS and Ph.D degrees from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. After doing post-doctoral work at Ohio State University, specializing in experimental nuclear physics, he moved to Gainesville, Fla., where he served on the faculty of the Dept. of Physics at the University of Florida, 1966-1979. In the fall of 1979 he moved to East Lansing, Mich., to serve as the Senior Liaison Physicist at the National Superconducting Cyclotron at Michigan State University until his retirement in 1997.
Richard enjoyed gardening and researching family genealogy. He is survived by his sisters, Sylvia Marie Robertson of Madison, Wis., Margaret Ruth Blue and Helen Marion Holder (William) of Austin, Minn., and Kathryn Joan Blue of Williamsburg, Va., and numerous nieces and nephews. No services will be held.
