Originally of Toledo, Ohio, died surrounded by his family, at the age of 95, on December 2, 2011. He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Virginia; daughters Janice (William) Kahl and Patricia Engel LaFata; grandchildren Douglas (Alison) Kahl, Lora (Matthew) Winowiecki, Simone (Aaron) Schwabe, Ben Turnbull and Max Turnbull; and great-grandchildren Brendan, Mitchell and Anabelle Kahl and Jesse Schwabe. He was a proud veteran of the US Navy, having served in World War II. He worked for many years as an insurance agent for the Prudential in Toledo. He was an avid photographer and also worked for many years as an industrial photographer. Services and burial will be private. Donations in honor of his life may be made to the Ingham County Medical Care Facility Foundation, 3860 Dobie Road, Okemos, MI 48864. The family is being served by Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, East Lansing.
