
Robert "Kelly" Fairbanks of Williamston passed away peacefully at home on July 4, 2017 with his cherished wife Lex by his side. Kelly was born on April 21, 1940 in Traverse City, Michigan, the son of Robert and Mary (McAlvy) Fairbanks. Kelly was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy and retired from Michigan State University after more than 25 gratifying years in the Administrative Information Services department. Kelly was a true animal lover and fisherman. He especially adored his English Cocker Spaniels over the years and treasured his time fly fishing with his buddies.
Kelly will be greatly missed by his loving wife Alexis Smith. He is also survived by his sister Mr. and Mrs. Charles (Lillian) Linner and family of Grand Rapids, his sister in-law Mr. and Mrs. Allen (Marty) Forgach and family of Bloomfield Hills, his loyal and loving friend Paula Pavloff of Troy, and devoted friends Mr. and Mrs. Mark (Janet) Nisbett of Ada.
In keeping with Kelly's wishes, no services will be held. For those desiring, contributions in memory of Kelly may be made to Forster Woods Adult Day Care, 4656 N. Meridian Road Williamston, MI 48895 or the charity of one's choice. Lex and Kelly would like to especially thank his nurse Michael from Sparrow Home Hospice for his loving and compassionate care.
