AVIS DE DÉCÈS

Ruth Ann MacKenzie

24 juillet 193319 janvier 2021

Ruth Ann (Noelcke) MacKenzie, loving mother, grandmother, and wife, passed away peacefully on January 18, 2021, at the age of 87. Ruth truly cared about people and every living thing. She was often selfless in helping others, she always wanted to “fix” any unpleasantness in their lives. Her care for animals and plants brought her great joy. Ruth was a great athlete, her prowess often shaming others that were much younger and in the prime of their athletic life. She was proud to be a Girl Scout Leader with multiple troops, where she encouraged her girls that they could do anything boys did, just better. She worked diligently and successfully to prevent a multinational corporation from locating a landfill in her community and watershed. In retirement, she was very active in bettering her community with volunteer work for the Women’s Business Association and Chamber of Commerce, always helping in any way needed including with her accounting background. Ruth’s quirkiness and creative mind lead her to be a great story teller, mostly from life experiences (hers or others). When Ruth had some time for herself, she loved a glass of wine, games, and puzzles with friends and family, and when alone, Sudoku and her game shows. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents Caroline (Jonas) Noelcke and Carl Noelcke; her sister Caroline Arbogast (Noelcke); her brothers Carl Noelcke, Wilbur Noelcke, and Ralph Noelcke. Ruth is survived by her sister, Dorothy Lamberty, her husband of 68 years, Robert Douglas MacKenzie, her son Robert Bruce MacKenzie, her daughters Barbara Alice MacKenzie, Catherine Ann Hardwick, and Deborah Ruth MacKenzie-Taylor (Allan Taylor), and grandchildren (Jacob, Clinton, Elizabeth, Ellie (Adelaide), Gordon, Ethan).

Ruth was a marvel. She was a gracious host when we visited at Skye Acres. Ruth was an entertaining and informative storyteller at all of our wine weekends. Ruth and Deb appeared to have a very close relationship, which is all a mother can hope for. I aspire to have that kind of relationship with my children. Although Ruth's time on earth came to an end, her legacy lives on and continues to inspire.

I too got to know Ruth during our wine travels and truly enjoyed learning from her and enjoyed her company and wit. A toast to you Ruth, well lived and well done.

I am so sad to hear of Ruth's passing. She was a truly wonderful person. I knew her through many of her many community works including Girl Scouts. My daughter never knew who I was talking about if I said Ruth, but if I said Mrs. Mac,she always knew. Rest in peace Mrs. Mac

Ruth was an amazing friend, worker and volunteer. She was always the first to stay yes to anyone’s needs. For years she worked to keep the Little Miami Chamber of Commerce in Morrow, Ohio growing as treasure and was always striving to help the businesses and community's needs. She organized a group to keep the landfill from expanding. She will be missed.
Love you Ruth.

Daria said it well. Our wine trips were always entertaining when Ruth came along. She filled us with great stories (and wine). She definitely filled a mom role for us all. I would say rest in peace but I don't think that Ruth will stop looking for issues to fix. Hugs to Deb, Kathy, and Barb.

I came to know Ruth when she first joined us for a long weekend wine tour up north, to “help” the economy. Oh, did she love helping us do just that!! We all learned more about wine, in the stories she shared. She was a mom for us all to enjoy, and she connected with us each in her own personal way. I am forever grateful Deb brought her to meet us, resulting in forever memories for us all. Godspeed.
