Sandra K. DeWitt passed away January 13, 2014. She was born in Lansing, Michigan to the late Arthur and Vena Morrison in 1936. Sandy lived her entire life as a Salvationist and was an advocate for the elderly living in nursing homes. She was
an active member in her community as a member of Walnut Hills Country Club and the University Club of Michigan State University. During her working life, she was employed by Motor Wheel in the Production Control Department for 44 years.
Sandy was preceded in death by her brother, Melvin Morrison. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her loving husband, John DeWitt and stepsons, Dennis DeWitt and Mitchell DeWitt along with her brother Stanley Morrison of Dimondale, Michigan. The family wishes to thank Sparrow Hospital, Okemos Rehabilitation and Timber Ridge Assisted Living for their compassionate care during Sandy’s illness.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 18, 2014 at Salvation Army Flint Citadel, 211 West Kearsley St., Flint, MI 48502 with Major Jon Augenstein officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 16, 2014 from 6-8 p.m. and Friday, January 17, 2014 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, East Chapel, 1730 East Grand River Avenue, East Lansing, MI. The family will also receive guests 2 hours prior to the service on Saturday at the Salvation Army Flint Citadel. Those desiring may make contributions in Sandra’s name to the Salvation Army Flint Citadel Band, 211 W. Kearsley St., Flint, MI 48502 or Songsters at the same address.
