Just want to make a correction, Sarina's anniversary of her death was 10-10-2011 and that is the day her dad and I visited her grave and the Monarch butterfly came to visit me.

Later as I walked through my yard, a monarch butterfly flew by almost touching my shoulder.

Almost a year has passed since Sarina's death and my heart is still breaking.  I visit her grave often here in Lake City and when I do I remember my favorite poem and it reminds me of Sarina.

"DO NOT STAND AT MY GRAVE AND WEEP"

About a month after Sarina died when  the leaves had fallen from the trees and the grass was turning brown and the rose bushes had lost their leaves, a beautiful red rose bloomed on a dead branch of a rose bush and lived for the longest time, through harsh winds, rain and snow, it kept it's bloom.  It was like Sarina had come to tell me she was OK and happy in heaven.

This past summer a monarch butterfly flew around my back yard and I asked "Is that you Sarina?" and the butterfly landed on the exact branch where the red rose had bloomed last fall, again telling me that Sarina had stopped for a visit.

You are deeply missed Sarina.

Sarina was the greatest friend I have ever had, even after her death she continues to impact my life. I won't even try to say that I treated her like she deserved to be treated, but for some reason she never lost hope in me, that in itself is unbelievable. My memories of her are vivid in a way that is unmatched by any other person I have ever known, even more than 6 months after her passing I can clearly recall her voice, her laugh, and her mannerisms. Sarina often knew more about me than I knew about myself, the way her mind worked was so complimentary to mine that speaking to her for hours at a time was like a breath of fresh air. She always had a way to make each and every person around her feel like they were special. Not a single day goes by that I don't think about her and miss her, words cannot express the emotion that I feel/felt for her.

The Seger clan is always in my thoughts and prayers.  I was so glad to have had Sarina as part of my life. Sarina always knew how to make you laugh and have a good time.  She is missed deeply.  Love you Sarina and the rest of the Segar Clan. (Cheryl, Shanna, Stephen, Sarah, & Sharissa)

I am so sorry for your loss... Sarina was a beautiful person, inside and out. I think about her every day and I know she still continues to inspire those she left behind.

I share a sadness of your loss that no words can ever replace. I do not believe i had met Sarina but i'm sure we would have gotten along just fine. I was so sorry to hear of Sarina's accident.  To me she is still that little four year old living at Cedar Creek Apartments.  After watching her commencement video on YouTube I can only imagine the wonderful young woman she had become.  I hope that God is able to hold you through this loss and your family will be able to cherish the gift of Sarina's "Giving Tree".  Our thoughts and prayers are with you through the upcoming months. My son graduated with Sarina this past spring. As a fellow Okemos parent, I wanted to offer you my sincerest condolences. While attending the Senior Honors night and the commencement ceremonies, I remember being struck by the young lady who, even at this young age, seemed to have such a strong commitment and desire for teaching children. Her speech about "The Giving Tree" was so touching and memorable to me, and I was so sad to hear of her passing. It is clear that she would have become a remarkable teacher, and  while education has suffered a tremendous loss, it is clear that heaven is shining brighter tonight...

Dear Seger Family, I am so very sorry to hear of your loss.  I too lost my daughter in a car accident.  She was one of the teenagers killed in the Fowlerville accident the summer of 2003 that claimed the lives of 4 teens.  I understand your pain at this time.  I now facilitate a grief support group specific for parents who have lost a child.  I hope I can be of some help to you in the coming months.  You will remain in my thoughts and prayers during this time.

We loved Sarina.  We are stunned that she is gone.  Mei is so sad.   I remember Sarina as a sweet little kid in the Brownies.  I bumped into Sarina outside the MSU auditorium after graduation and congratulated her on her fine speech at commencement.  She was beaming and so happy.  Our thoughts are with all of you.
