

Suzanne Myers Gieszer, of Okemos, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, passed away on April 19, 2022 at the age of 87. Suzanne was born on December 25, 1934, in Springfield, Illinois to Alan and Pauline (Shaver) Myers.
Suzanne and her older brother, Louis Myers, were raised in Springfield, Illinois and spent summers on the family farm in Fancy Prairie, Illinois. Suzanne graduated from the University of Illinois in 1957 with a bachelor’s degree in education. It was there she met her first husband, George Mead, and together they had four children. Suzanne was a longtime resident of Okemos, moving into her home in 1965. In 1990, Suzanne married her second husband, William “Jerry” Gieszer. Suzanne and Jerry were avid travelers, visiting Australia, Iceland, and New Zealand, and especially loved traveling throughout the U.S.
Suzanne went onto master her craft as a jeweler and was honored with designing a pendant for the YWCA’s Diana award. Later in life, she participated in craft shows where she displayed her painting and woodworking crafts. She loved all things rocks and enjoyed sharing her inuksuks with others. She was an avid supporter of the Michigan State women’s volleyball and basketball teams, as well as Okemos High School sports. She was presented with an honorary Super Fan award for her loyal support of Okemos High School athletics.
Suzanne was devoted to her family and is survived by her children, Nancy (Jim Bassett) Mead, William (Vicki) Mead, Anne (Dave) Paulson, and Laurie (Kurt) Varner, 11 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
