

Suzanne Baer Johnson of Okemos was called home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on October 15, 2023 after battling the effects of Crohn’s Disease and other complications for over 20 years.
Suzanne was born on December 26, 1956 in Muncie, IN, and was raised in Kokomo, IN, where she was graduated from Haworth High School in 1975. She received her Diploma in Nursing from the Wishard Memorial School of Nursing in Indianapolis in 1978. Her nursing career included work in Indianapolis and Bloomington, IN, and the greater Lansing area from 1986 to 2010. Most of her career was spent in Critical Care Nursing, more than half of it at Sparrow Hospital.
In 1985, Suzanne married John Johnson. They had two children – Bradley, who lives in Wixom with his wife, Kaitlin and three daughters – Avery, Mila and Kiera; and Erin (Carlson), who lives in Morrice with her husband, Devin, and their children, Dylan, Emmalyn and Charlotte.
Suzanne was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Donna Baer; brother, Scott; and sister, Becky. In addition to her children and grandchildren, she is survived by numerous nephews and nieces.
A service for Suzanne will take place on Thursday, October 19, 2023 at 11:00 AM, with a one-hour prior visitation from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, at South Lansing Christian Church, 6300 N Aurelius Rd., Lansing, MI 48911. Following the service, Suzanne will be laid to rest in Glendale Cemetery in Okemos. As this service is a celebration of Suzanne’s life and everyone she touched as a nurse, the family requests those attending wear her favorite color – blue (in any shade) – and lapel pins of her favorite flower – daisies – will be distributed.
Serving as pallbearers are Brandon Hull, Bill Johnson, Tim Johnson, Stan Kohtz, Zach Milan, Will Timothy Johnson, and honorary pallbearer, Jason Smith.
