Born February 28, 1945 to Carroll and Wilma Slocum, passed away June 19, 2011 at the age of 66. Tom was a Switch Technician and worked for Michigan Bell for many years. He was a long time Boy Scout and leader, member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and the Bath Lions Club. Tom was a lifetime member of the Telephone Pioneers. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, the great outdoors and always had a story to tell. He was known to many as the man with the handle bar mustache.
Tom is survived by his wife Mary of 41 years; children, Eileen Slocum, Elysia (Dan) Perkins and Mike Slocum; 7 grandchildren, Addy, Dominick, Sarah, Ethan, Kaylee, Ava and Alex; sisters, Carolyn Fowler of Marquette and Mary Longberry; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. A memorial mass will be held Saturday, July 23, 10 a.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 955 Alton Road, East Lansing, MI with Fr. Mark Inglot officiating. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service at church.
